The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) is the only national association that brings together business development and marketing professionals from the architectural, engineering, planning, interior design, and construction industries. SMPS Columbus is one of 57 Chapters nationally. With a local membership of 140 and a national membership of nearly 7000, SMPS is a dynamic and powerful network for the A/E/C industry. The organization seeks to Advocate, Educate, and Connect professionals across the disciplines for the purpose of building long-lasting relationships that will promote and nurture business for member firms.
SMPS Columbus was awarded Outstanding Chapter awards at the 2009 and 2010 Build Business National Conferences and is striving for excellence once again in the coming program year. The Chapter also has among the highest percentage of Certified Professional Services Marketers (CPSM) of any Chapter nationwide. The highest honor that can be afforded an SMPS member is to be named a Fellow of the organization. There are only about 70 Fellows nationwide and SMPS Columbus can boast 3 of them among our membership. Several of our members are active in the Business Development Institute (BDI) and are active speakers nationwide on topics ranging from networking tips and tricks to empowering technical staff to be more effective communicators. A caring and compassionate group, SMPS Columbus hosts a Charity Golf Outing each year and has made significant contributions to Kids 'n Kamp, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Ohio Health Home Reach Hospice.
